Find a colour combination that feels like yours.
Make a small colour family
Use your practice area or a spare sheet to try the method before working on a favourite illustration.
01. Begin with a main colour
Choose the colour you most want to see on the machine. This can come from a real example, a memory or a favourite pencil.
02. Find a quiet companion
Try a softer colour for the interior, seat or background. It can support the main colour without competing with it.
03. Add a small contrast
A stripe, badge or detail can carry a stronger accent. A little contrast often goes a long way.
04. Keep your swatches
Write down the pencil names or numbers when a combination works. It makes returning to the page much easier.
Screen colours and pencil colours are different. Trust a small test on the paper you are using.
