The Mach 1 uses an Italian racing red frame and bodywork with contrasting silver areas. The restoration colour register records silver mudguards, headlamp, toolboxes and tank flutes with yellow lining.

The register covers 1964-1966. Mach1 toolbox lids are silver with red lining; yellow belongs to the tank-flute lining. The illustration simplifies this layout.
In the photographs
Most views show bright red frames and tanks with silver areas and fine yellow lining. The Quail motorcycle appears darker red with a pale tank inset and red front mudguard. Its year and paint originality are unverified, so use the specialist colour register for the period layout.

In the coloured example
The example follows the red-and-silver colour family but leaves the side cover red. The specialist register describes silver toolboxes with red lining on the Mach 1, so that area differs from the recorded finish.
